Dear Parent

Swimming

Children in Years 3, 4, and 5 will begin their swimming lessons in Brecon on Monday 20th February. This is the first Monday back after half term. The children will leave school at 10.30am and will return to school before lunchtime. A £10 donation towards the cost of transport from each child from Years 3 to 5 would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Golden Valley Collaboration

Mrs Barker, Headteacher of Michaelchruch Escley Primary School, will be retiring at the end of this academic year. Michaelchurch Escley’s Governing Body are wanting to appoint a Collaborative/executive headteacher for their school. Al this point in time this is not a viable option for Clifford Primary School to enter into. Collaboration of small rural primary schools with shared headship posts will increasingly become an opportunity to effectively manage and develop our schools. One of the areas for discussion at our next Parents’ Forum, on Friday 2nd March at 2.30pm will be small schools collaboration and what this could look like for Clifford Primary School. All parents are most welcome to attend.

Parents’ Forum

Each month I will up-date you via your newsletter on topics discussed during the Parents’ Forum meeting. Last week we heard from Mrs Sherrott abut her role as Well-being co-ordinator and the ‘Friends’ programme being explored in Key Stage 2. We also looked at the new proposed attendance policy. We were asked about the possibility of introducing Homework exercise books rather than folders. As resources have been purchased for this academic year, homework books will begin in September. A request has been made for parents with children in the same year groups to swap email addresses/telephone numbers. This may help with organising events to checking class details between parents.

After School Clubs

Our After School clubs will begin during the first week back on Monday 20th February. Clubs on offer during the second half term are; Sing Up (Yrs R to 6) and Uni Hock (KS2) on Mondays, Friends Club (Yrs R to 6) on Tuesdays and Multi-skills (KS 2) on Wednesdays.
